The CanEducate program is being implemented in the 3 Acacia mine sites in Tanzania – Bulyanhulu, Buzwagi and North Mara Gold Mines. The program supports vulnerable and underprivileged students with school uniforms, scholastic materials such as books, stationery and other supplies that enable the pupils to be fully equipped for learning. The program also provides “A” level students with additional support in the form of exam fees, bedding and transport costs. Many of the “A” level students are boarders and travel long distances to access the schools that offer “A” level. The CanEducate program previously provided school fees but in January 2016, the Tanzanian government introduced a Free Education for All policy which has enabled the program to increase the number of its beneficiaries.
